Horticulture Certificate
Leading to a full award at QQI Level 4 Horticulture
This course is for those who wish :
- To return to education and give themselves the opportunity to explore the options available to them, while gaining valuable skills and confidence.
- To explore new vocational areas such as Horticulture
- Develop confidence in your ability to progress on to further education and employment
Entry Requirements:
Applicant should:
- Be confident at reading, writing and spelling.
- Have Level 3 Certificate, Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification
Recognition of prior learning or work experience in the field may be taken into account should you not have a QQI Level 3 or Junior Certificate
Additional Requirements:
- Be reasonably competent and comfortable with reading, writing and spelling in English
- Basic computer skills e.g. word processing, internet and email are required
- Be able to work effectively - in a group situation and independently
- Attend all timetabled classes for the duration of the programme
- Participate in all planned programme activities
- Study at home regularly and appropriately for the duration of the programme
- Attend Study Revision Skills Course
Eligibility Criteria:
The course is free to participants who:
· Are in receipt of any DSP payment or have a medical card.
· Do not have a Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
· Are on a very low income.
A limited number of places may be available to other participants. See Co-ordinator for further details.
Programme Content:
90 credits required for Major QQI Level 4 Award.

Learner Supports:
The following supports are available to learners who participate on this course:
- Study Skills Revision Class will be provided and is recommended for all participants.
- Access to KWETB Adult Guidance Service.
- Support for students through the Adult Basic Education Service if required.
- Wheelchair accessibility.
Application Procedure:
Places are allocated based on successfully meeting the eligibility criteria, learner need, learner suitability for the programme and places available.
Prospective students will:

- Attend for interview.
