Information Processing QQI Level 5
This course is for those who wish:
- · To
explore and understand the
nature of business and the role of technology and its benefits for small
businesses and modern organisations.
- · To
learn a broad range of computer application skills for use in a modern office
environment, such as Spreadsheets and Database (Access).
- · To
use and understand the accounts package SAGE50.
Entry Requirements:
Applicant should:
- A confident reader, writer and speller.
- Have a full Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or
equivalent qualifications.
- Good computer
skills and be confident in using a computer.
Recognition of prior learning or work experience in the field may be
taken into account should you not have a QQI Level 4 or Leaving Certificate.
Additional Requirements:

Good computer skills
and knowledge of programmes i.e. Excel, Word.
·
Be able to work
effectively - in a group situation and independently.
·
Attend all
timetabled classes for the duration of the programme.
·
Participate in all
planned programme activities.
·
Study at home
regularly and appropriately for the duration of the programme.
·
The learner must be
able to participate in two weeks work experience to participate fully on
this programme. This is outside of class
time.
Eligibility Criteria:
The course is free to participants who:

Are in receipt of
any DSP payment or have a medical card.
·
Do not have a
Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
·
Are on a very low
income.
A limited number of places may be available to others

Places are allocated based on successfully meeting
the eligibility criteria, learner need,
learner suitability for the programme and places available.
Prospective students will:
- Fill in an Application Form.
- Attend for interview.
Progression Options:
Learners who successfully complete this
course can progress to working in the area of IT Maintenance and Creation. This
course provides the option of further study at Level 6, 7 and 8 in a range of
areas. Adult Education Guidance Service
