Certificate in Computer Science ![]() Leading to a full award at QQI Level 5 Computer Science 5M0536 In this course, students gain an in-depth knowledge of computer hardware installation, upgrading and maintenance, network basics, installation and maintenance, software installation and maintenance, the use of software applications. This course would be of interest to anyone wishing to expand their IT Skills or beginning a career in PC maintenance. The course would also benefit those considering entering third level education in computer science. Programme Objectives: Gain an introduction to the area of Computer Systems and Networking Gain the knowledge and skills to be able to install, repair and troubleshoot basic computer and computer network issues. Learn to communicate effectively using written, oral and non-verbal methods Develop creative and problem solving skills Give yourself the opportunity to progress further education and related springboard and third level courses. Gain a valuable nationally recognised qualification. Course Structure and Duration Duration: 2 years Days: Monday and Wednesday Evenings Time: 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm. Course Fees The course is free to participants who are early school leavers or those who are currently unemployed, or who are on a very low income. Applications All applicants are interviewed to help them choose the right programme and level of course. An interview also allows us to make sure that any appropriate resources and supports are provided to learners, when the place is accepted.
