Healthcare Assistant Certificate Leading to a Major Certificate FETAC Level 5

This course is for those who wish to work in the Healthcare services, and work in a supportive role in different healthcare settings, and those who wish to progress on to further education at FETAC Level 6 or third level education.
Programme Objective:
Explore the area of Healthcare and Healthcare support. Gain valuable care skills and understanding of the whole area of care giving. Improve employment opportunities. Meet new and like-minded people. Gain a valuable and recognised healthcare qualification.

Safety and Health at Work Care Support Work Experience Care Skills Human Growth and Development Care of the Older Person Communications Social Studies People and Manual Handling CPR Training
This programme is structured so that there is flexibility for the learner who does not wish to complete the whole programme and only has an interest in completing one or more programme modules. In this case the learner may achieve a FETAC Component Certificate.

Duration: 2 years
Days: Monday and Wednesday Evenings
Time: 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm
Course Fees
The course is free to participants who are early school leavers or those who are currently unemployed, or who are on a very low income.
Applications
All applicants are interviewed to help them choose the right programme and level of course. An interview also allows us to make sure that any appropriate resources and supports are provided to learners, when the place is accepted.
Places are allocated based on successfully meeting the eligibility criteria, learner need, learner suitability for the programme and places available.
